Customary windows do not offer special protection in locked or tilt position.
In most cases windows are levered open from the outside. To prevent this, the
Crime Prevention Forces and Insurance Companies recommend additional locking
devices. On the following pages you will find the presently most extensive range

companies). (At the moment, the VdS has the most stringent requirements for

Burglars not only use doors to gain unauthorized entry but also get in through
unsecured windows, French windows and patio doors. A lockable window handle
prevents unauthorized opening (e.g. childproof lock) but is no effective means
against the most common attack, the lever attack. Police forces recommend additional
locking devices. No matter what type of window or patio door you may have, ABUS

Essential Door Security
The door fitting protects the cylinder, i.e. the actual lock, from brutal attacks
from the outside. ABUS has the right choice of models for all kinds of security
needs. Hereafter you will find a range of door fittings which have all been
tested by the TÜV, furthermore they are VdS approved and conform to DIN
18257. They are produced in the well-established layer construction (i.e. steel
bottom plate plus decorative cover) and available in various finishes. In case
a door fitting cannot be mounted, at least an escutcheon plate should protect
the cylinder from attacks.
